This is What's Included

Padded on all sides

Padded on all sides

All the internal walls of the main compartment have dense foam padding, including the top lid and base, to provide the ultimate protection for your equipment.

QRS Front Strap

QRS Front Strap

The single 'Quick Release System' leather front strap allows you to quickly and easily open the bag, simply pull the strap up-and-off the brass clogball.

The front strap is made of top-grain real leather that softens over time. It is likely you will be able to open the bag one handed whilst wearing it with a little practice.

The buckle allows you to fine tune the 'fit' of the front pocket, you do not need to use the buckle to open the bag.

Included padded dividers

Included padded dividers

Sometimes, no dividers are used and a camera is placed lens down in the main compartment – for example a Canon 5D MkIV with a 24-70mm lens attached.

For smaller set-ups two vertical dividers are included, giving you the option to split the bag into two or three columns if your equipment is small enough.

Front dump pocket

Front dump pocket

A single front dump pocket with a press stud close is great for fitting a phone, spare batteries or cables or even a passport!

Ability to add AVEA End Pockets

Ability to add AVEA End Pockets

Want to carry an additional small lens or flash? You can add optional AVEA 3, AVEA 5 or AVEA 7 end pockets to the bag!

They attach to the bag's strong leather side panels. Shown here with an AVEA 7 attached.

Sculpted top flap

Sculpted top flap

The top flap has been sculpted to help prevent rain or snow getting into the main compartment. It is also made of the same 3-layer waterproof fabric as the rest of the bag.

Adjustable shoulder sling

Adjustable shoulder sling

The shoulder sling is made of strong, woven webbing and is adjustable in length to suit your height and shooting style.

The shoulder sling is compatible with the SP15 and SP40 (recommended) shoulder pads – not included.

Discrete and slim

Discrete and slim

The particularly discrete styling of the bag means that it doesn't look like a camera bag at all – ideal for travelling without drawing attention.

As a slim bag it's naturally flexible, moulding to the body of the wearer and helping weave through crowds.

Hadley Digital vs Hadley Small

What is the difference between these two camera bags?

  • The Hadley Small is a little wider.
  • The Hadley Small includes extra dividers to allow for stacking of gear (size allowing).
  • The Hadley Small has a removable padded insert to turn the bag from a camera bag to a casual bag in seconds. The padded insert in the Hadley Digital can't be removed.

Small to Medium DSLR (e.g. Canon 5D or Nikon D750 without battery grip) with one small-to-medium lens attached. If a very small lens is attached then a another spare lens might be possible too.

Almost any mirrorless camera (Sony A7IV, Fujifilm X-T4, Nikon Z6, Canon EOS R, Olympus OM-D E-M1 etc) with small to medium lens attached. Plus maybe a spare lens too.

Leica M10 with 1 lens attached and another to the side.

Compact medium format cameras with a small-to-medium lens attached (e.g. Fujifilm GFX 50S with 63mm lens or Hasselblad X1D II with 80mm lens attached).

Small foldable drones such as Mavic Air 2 or Mavic Mini 2.

  • The Hadley Small is a little wider than the Hadley Digital
  • The Hadley Small has a removable, padded insert with divider set whereas only the dividers are removable in the Hadley Digital, the internal padding is sewn in.
  • The Hadley Small includes extra dividers to allow for stacking of gear (size allowing).
  • The Hadley Small can't accept AVEA pockets but the Hadley Digital can.

Yes it can. It will fit facing downwards so long as you don't attach it to a lens that is too long. You won't be able to fit the battery grip on too though.

No! You don't use the buckle to get in the bag!

Hadley front straps are opened by sliding the top of the strap off the brass clogball (round stud). This is a very quick way to open and close the bag - many people learn to do this one-handed as the leather softens.

The buckle is only used very occasionally to adjust the fit of the bag - to give you a tighter or looser fit depending on what you are carrying. We'd recommend keeping the strap inside the buckle during normal use - this keeps the straps securely attached to the bag.

You can keep the bag itself open while shooting - just don't put the straps back on the clogball until you want to close bag.

No. The fabric is made of 3 layers - the middle layer is butyl rubber. Water cannot pass through this butyl rubber layer. As long as you don't get a hole in the fabric or expose it to harsh chemicals (for example in a washing machine) the fabric should remain waterproof for many years. There is no need to apply re-proofing.

In simple terms ‘Canvas’ or ‘FibreNyte’ refers to top layer of fabric on our bags – the facecloth.

‘Canvas’ is a mix of cotton and polyester. ‘FibreNyte’ refers to our face fabric that is completely synthetic. Canvas is hard wearing, FibreNyte is very hard wearing.

Both fabrics are bonded to a non-wicking polyester backing fabric with a middle layer butyl rubber – this rubber layer makes both fabrics equally (and very) waterproof. Water can’t get through that rubber layer.

Both fabrics have a similar weave - the FibreNyte looks similar to canvas. Canvas is slightly softer to the touch, FibreNyte is slightly rougher to the touch.

People tend to choose Canvas if they want the bag to age gracefully and look vintage over time. This is particularly true of people who choose our ‘Khaki Canvas’ fabric as this looks particularly lovely as it ages.

People tend to choose FibreNyte if they want the bag to look newer for longer or if they are particularly hard on their gear - for example by carrying the bag to work with them every day, doing a lot of hiking or filling it particularly full. If you are buying a black bag it’s particularly worth considering FibreNyte as it will stay looking blacker longer. Also Sage FibreNyte is particularly attractive as a colour – it’s probably the most popular colour among our staff!

The 'SP15' and 'SP40' sizes both fit this bag. The 'SP15' has more grip whereas the 'SP40' has more padding. For most customers we recommend the SP40 shoulder pad.

Remember to select the correct colour for your bag!

The shoulder pad isn't essential but can stop the strap from digging into your shoulder if you are carrying heavy equipment inside the bag or carrying it for long periods. It can also reduce the chances of the bag slipping off your shoulder if you don't wear it across the body. Remember only the 'SP15' and 'SP40' sizes fit this bag. Buying it with the bag will save the postage cost of buying it separately later.

No, the padding inside the Hadley Digital is sewn into the walls of the bag and is therefore not removable. However, the padded dividers that attach inside with Velcro® are removable.

AVEA 3, AVEA 5 and AVEA 7 End Pockets fit on this bag - other sizes do not fit.

On the back of the AVEAs are two leather straps - they thread down through the leather side panels of the Hadley Digital. For extra security metal pop-clips then clip to hold the leather straps in place at the bottom.

Please note that the End Pockets are not included with the bag.
